Craps is one of those quintessential casino games that you always imagine when you think of a Las Vegas casino resort. Craps is often a high roller game played by the rich, though not to the extent of baccarat. It is a popular dice game that allows other people at the table to bet for or against a player. There are many different bets you can make in the game, each with different odds.

    How to play craps

Craps may seem complicated and intimidating at first, but it is not difficult to learn. Of the players at the craps table, there is one “shooter,” who rolls the dice. Everyone else places a bet on the outcome of the rolls by the shooter.

The first roll by the shooter is called the “come out roll.” The shooter rolls two dice and if he rolls a 7 or an 11, the shooter automatically wins, as does anyone who bet on the pass line. If the shooter rolled a 2, 3 or 12, then he automatically lost by rolling “craps.” Anyone who bet for the shooter by placing a bet on the pass line also loses. If the shooter rolls anything else, he establishes a “point.” The shooter then keeps rolling until he either rolls that number again or rolls a 7. If he rolls a 7 first, he loses. If he rolls the point before rolling a 7, he wins. When the shooter loses, the next person at the table an become the shooter, though they have the option of declining.

    Craps rules

In the game of craps, anyone who is not shooting has a number of betting options available. One type of bet is called a line bet. That includes a pass line bet, which is a bet for the shooter to win. The don’t pass line bet is a bet that the shooter will lose (betting on that will draw the ire of the shooter).

Craps players can also place a come bet. Those bets are placed after the shooter establishes a point. The better than wagers on a certain number, betting that it will be rolled before the shooter rolls a 7. A don’t come bet is the opposite. After the shooter establishes a point, you place a bet on a certain number and win if the shooter rolls a 7 before rolling that number.

In addition to the line bets, players can place single-roll bets. There are a number of single-roll bets. They have higher payouts than line bets but worse odds of occurring. Single-roll bets are wagers placed on the shooter rolling a certain number or combination on one roll. For example, you could place a bet on the shooter rolling snake eyes (2), boxcars (12), any seven or the horn (betting separately on 2, 3, 11 and 12).

The other wagering option is a multi-roll bet. That is a bet on the outcome of more than one roll. An example is betting on the “hard way.” That is a bet that the shooter will roll a 4, 6, 8 or 10 using identical pairs before rolling a 7. A bet on the “easy way” would be a bet on a 4, 6, 8 or 10, but without the identical pairs (a 5 and 1 would be an easy 6).

There are a great number of single-roll and multi-roll bets in the game of craps. Each of them has different odds and different payouts, so it is best to become familiar with all of the possibilities before playing craps.

    Craps table

A lot of new players are intimidated by the game when they see the craps table. There are a lot of betting possibilities on the table layout. Though there is a lot to the table, it is not overly complicated. First, there are four casino employees working at the table. The boxman is guarding the chips and exchanging chips for players. The two base dealers collect and pay the bets. The stickman announces the outcome of each roll, collects the dice with a wooden stick, and tells the base dealers who to pay.

The layout of the craps table itself is pretty self-explanatory. There is a spot on the table for each of the available bets. There are large parts of the table dedicated to the pass line bet, don’t pass bar, come, and don’t come bar. There are also spots to place a bet on a specific number or on a field.
